April 2, 2014Chinese Five Spice is a mixture of five spices, encompassing all five flavors of sweet, sour, bitter, pungent, and salty. It works well with greasy meats like pork and duck. It is used in stir fried vegetables and as a spice rub for chicken, duck, pork and seafood.
2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 Tablespoons ground anise
2 Tablespoons ground fennel seeds
2 Tablespoons ground Szechuan peppercorns
2 Tablespoons ground cloves

Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
Store in an air tight container in a cool, dry place away from heat and light. Like your fridge.
