Straw-berries, Get it?!

Besides drinking out of them and unclogging ketchup bottles straws have another cool use. Hulling Strawberries. First wash your berries well. Take your drinking straw and push it through the bottom of the strawberry spinning it in your fingers if needed until it pops the top off the strawberry. Pull the straw back out and the core comes with it. Repeat with remaining berries. This method was way faster than with a knife and we were making our preserves in no time.

However, sometimes it doesn’t work, it does depend on the ripeness of the fruit and the strength of your straw.
